How do you double the speed of a cart?

Jacobs Physics

I've shared broadly my " double the speed of a cart " in-class laboratory exercises. One exercise asks students to roll a cart down an incline, then double the cart's mass - what happens to the maximum speed of the cart on the same incline? Again, simple - just release the cart from rest and use frame-by-frame video.

Fan Cart technology seems to have regressed.

Jacobs Physics

Except, for some reason, simple fan carts. First, a warning: I bought four of the modern Vernier fan carts (pictured at top) last year. Energy of various systems in an inelastic collision

Jacobs Physics

I was asked about the situation above, in which two carts of different masses are released from rest and roll down frictionless ramps. The carts collide and stick together on the flat surface. Let's treat this as a goal-less problem : Edna, Bertha, and Anthony by @Aldescary Which way do the carts move after they collide?

Describing a laboratory procedure: speed of a cart at the bottom of a ramp

Jacobs Physics

Samar, who teaches in Maryland, called my attention to a question in the AP Physics 1 Workbook : In order to perform an experiment, two students need to determine the velocity of a cart just as it reaches the bottom of a ramp. Put a dual-beam photogate above the cart at the position where the cart leaves the track.

‘Press Play’ Isn’t a Teaching Strategy: Why Educators Need New Methods for Video

ED Surge

My first foray into using video in my teaching involved a TV cart wheeled into my classroom, replete with a connected VHS player—and no remote. I still remember one teacher I had pointing to his TV cart and saying, “that’s the busy teacher’s best friend.” As a teacher or a student, you may remember a holiday-week screening of E.T.
