I have the privilege of working with 2nd through 6th graders in my gifted education classes and Kindergarten through 6th grade in my summer STEM and robotics camps. Academic standards used by almost all schools are based on the false and incorrect belief of the average student.

It leads to "grade inflation" It violates some kind of academic machismo code that views student assessment like competition in an arena. This seems to stem from a combination of two misplaced ideas about grades: that they are compensation , or that they are the result of a competition. Limit the frequency of reassessments.
