El Rancho Charter School’s Coding and 3D Video Game Design class had a developer’s meeting on Friday. Veteran Game Coding Instructor Troy Coffey invited Daniel and Steve to webinar into his class to meet with this semesters game design class. The topics discussed with some of the CTeLearning.com development team was gravity, collision and what they might expect when starting out in the coding game (no pun intended) as a new hire in a company.

I posted this last year, but it’s still valid. One addition: new activities down toward the bottom of the post. Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant Ï€ (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the three most significant digits of Ï€ in the decimal form. Daniel Tammet, a high-functioning autistic savant, holds the European record for reciting pi from memory to 22,514 digits in five hours and nine minutes.

Quiver Education is a Augmented Reality experience for the classroom. Quiver offers a free iOS app for download that users can then use w/ their mobile device to get a 3D augmented reality experience. Quiver Education has created 3D educational coloring pages for download that include subjects such as: biology, geometry, and science. Best of all, there is even a quiz that educators can use to test a student's knowledge.

We love Big Time Grain Company. This regional group was one of the businesses that offered a paid internship to a student who was taking our Web and Mobile App course at a high school in PA. It is hard to find companies who will give paid internships to high school students. Big thanks to them again for being so kind. A couple weeks back, some of our development team took our VR rig out and captured this video at a Big Time Grain Co local event.

GameBox is the latest iOS app from Yogome the wonderful company that uses Game Based Learning for a wide variety subjects (i.e. coding, math, science, etc.) These fun mini-games are designed for kids 5-12 years old and feature the famous colorful Yogotar characters. Best of all is the downloaded Parent dashboard that lets parents track and monitor their kids progress.

NameCoach is a wonderful web service that educators are using to learn student's names and pronounce them correctly. This is especially useful w/ commencement/graduation ceremonies on the horizon. The way this works is simple as a teacher creates a name/web page and then has the student's speak their names. The audio gets embedded into a page and a user can access them all on one page at anytime.
