Data Puzzles is a platform that integrates classroom-friendly scientific datasets with Ambitious Science Teaching methods for an inquiry-based learning experience. The site advocates for learning science through exploration and discovery and provides interesting data sets that will engage students and reveal the bigger picture of an important phenomenon in the natural world. Most of the data puzzles appear to be focused at the secondary level.

Each of the Data Puzzles tend to be multi-day mini-units that might last a week or so. Check out one of the recent Data Puzzles on Snow in the Rockies that was recently published.

Note: most of these data sets are local to the Colorado area where the team creating these are located.

Would love to hear from anyone who has used these resources. I’m thinking of trying some with my science methods students next year. Enjoy!
