Video: Conversations on Infinity

I love listening to podcasts or watching videos of people talking about their passions and areas of expertise. It doesn’t matter whether the person is a comedian, musician, writer, chef, or scientist- I’m always fascinated to hear the common design challenges that people face and how their work fills them up.

The other day I stumbled on this fascinating video where PhD mathematician Emily Riehl discusses infinity at five levels: to a child, a teen, a college student, a graduate student, and an expert. Wired has created these types of videos for years and there is something very satisfying about the structure. I especially appreciate how Emily talks with each person. Emily asks excellent questions and connects with each individual. You can tell she is a skilled teacher and that she is passionate about this content…that’s probably what I like the most. She seems like one of those people where you just feel a bit smarter from having been in their presence. I feel like I know more about infinity now and definitely want to learn more. Enjoy.
