Battelle is running a climate challenge for high school students called the Battelle Climate Challenge. Students in grades 9-12 are tasked with researching and addressing climate-related hazards in their communities, such as drought, wildfire, flooding, and extreme heat. They must propose an original climate action in a 200-word explanation and present it visually on a poster (digital or hand-made). The proposed action should focus on enhancing community resilience. The grand prize winner will showcase their poster at the Innovations in Climate Resilience Conference in Washington, D.C., and receive a $5,000 STEM grant for a U.S. nonprofit, public library, or school. Runners-up (2nd-5th place) will be awarded a $1,500 STEM grant for similar organizations.
Entries are due January 19th, 2024 so there isn’t a lot of time. Check out the site HERE for complete information and important dates. Good luck!
