I’m always on the lookout for high quality asynchronous workshops where I can do some professional learning and also get a few clock hours for maintaining my teaching certificate. Pacific Education Institute currently has an asynchronous online workshop titled: Introduction to Climate Education in the Classroom. The workshop features 5 modules and is FREE for K-12 teachers in Washington State. If you’re interested you need to register by May 17, 2024 and you must complete the course by May 31, 2024. The course qualifies for 10 clock hours (6 STEM and 4 Equity) and the course launches Friday, April 5th. (Note: you don’t have to be registered by April 5th…that’s just when the self-paced course opens.)

Here is a blurb about the workshop from PEI:

“Are you looking for an asynchronous workshop that you can complete at your own pace?  Look no further than Introduction to Climate Education in the Classroom!  This is an asynchronous course on Canvas where educators will work through five modules which introduce topics such as: coping with climate anxiety through civic action, uplifting diverse voices in climate science, and engaging students in climate education through the use of locally-relevant phenomenon. The course will conclude with creating a climate resilience action plan for your community.”

I’m registered and I hope to “see” some of y’all there sharing your learning in discussion posts, etc. Please share within your networks if you are able. I know a lot of teachers who are on the lookout for FREE professional learning that provides clock hours and has the convenience of being asynchronous.
