High School Physics Teacher Camp 2017

It’s time to register for this summer’s AAPT HS Physics Teacher Camp!

The camp happens on the Sunday of the summer national meeting of AAPT. This year, that meeting is in Cincinnati, and the camp will take place at a nearby high school in Covington, KY.

This year’s date is Sunday, July 23rd (in 2017—for those of you reading this post too far in the future).

What is AAPT HS Physics Teacher Camp?

Physics Teacher Camp is one of my favorite days of the whole year. It is a full day PD that is organized and run by high school teachers. There are “unconference”-style sessions (attendees decide the discussion topics that day and organize themselves), an invited speaker, and a chance for everyone to share something with fellow teachers in a low-pressure setting.  Plus, food! You can see more about the entire schedule, this year’s specifics, and what we’ve done the past two years on the camp website.

AAPT HS PTC 2017

I have learned things at this camp that have legitimately changed my classroom for the better. I also love having this space where everyone in the room is a high school physics teacher. A room full of people who care as much as I do about the exact, specific thing that I love? I can’t wait for this summer.

How much does it cost?

The cost is only $25! It includes food for breakfast, lunch, and a snack, plus (of course) the awesome full day of PD. The goal is always to make the camp as cheap as possible so that it can be an option for teachers who might have to pay for it themselves.

Sign up now!

Registration is open now, and the deadline to sign up is the end of June. Make a plan! Carpool over! Come to camp! (Stay the next day, too, and go to the reduced-cost-one-day-registration HS Teacher Day at the AAPT meeting.) It will totally be worth it. 🙂
