Hands-on activities helps us to cognitively and visually see how things work. By creating things with our hands, we can understand and appreciate the importance of its existence. We can also become better at:

Bright & Smart would like to wish you and your family a joyous holiday season and a healthy,happy New Year! In the spirit of the season, here are some fun S.T.E.A.M activities to keep your children learning and exploring!

 

Let's Melt Some Christmas Trees

When vinegar (an acid) is mixed with baking soda, it creates carbon dioxide. Carbon Dioxide is what makes the bubbles!

Materials:

  • paper plates to make into a cone shape

  • baking soda

  • vinegar

  • water

  • sequins

  • food coloring

  • bowl, spoon, tray to put in the freezer

  • squirt bottle, eyedropper, or baster

 

Let's Make a Paper Circuit Menorah

Let's show our children how a circuit works!

Materials:

  • 1 Lithium 3V Coin Cell Battery

  • 9 – 3 or 5 mm LED Lights

  • 1/4″ Copper Tape

  • Scotch Tape

  • 1 Binder Clip

 

Rudolph Slime


Chemistry is the study of all states of matter and how they act under different conditions. Let's show our students what happens when certain matter is

combined!

Materials:

  • 1/2 Cup of Clear Or White PVA School Glue

  • 1/4-1/2 Cup of Liquid Starch (Sta-Flo brand may need more)

  • 1/2 Cup of Water

  • Food coloring, confetti, glitter, and other fun mix-in
