SQUARE ROOT OF PRODUCT AND QUOTIENT OF NUMBERS

Example 1 :

Find the value of √256.

Solution :

√256 = √(16 x 16)

= √16 x √16

= 4 x 4

= 4

or

√256 = √(64 x 4)

= √64 x √4

= 8 x 2

= 16

Example 2 :

Find the value of √(25/9).

Solution :

√(25/9) = √25/√9

= 5/3

Example 3 :

Find the value of √(36/49).

Solution :

√(36/49) = √36/√49

= 6/7

Example 4 :

Find the value of √42.25.

Solution :

√42.25 = √4225/√100

= 65/10

= 6.5

Example 5 :

Find the value of √(98/162).

Solution :

√(98/162) = √(2 x 49)/(2 x 81)

= √(49/81)

= √49/√81

= 7/9

Example 6 :

Find the value of √12 x √3.

Solution :

√12 x √3 = √(12 x 3)

= √36

= 6
