Now, investment in stock X is three times of the initial deposit and investment in stock Y is three-fourth of the initial deposit. Find the total value of both the investments now.

Solution :

$5000 is divided equally into two parts.

The value of each part :

= 5000/2

= $2500

Total values of both the investments now :

= 3(2500) + (3/4)(2500)

= 7500 + 0.75(2500)

= 7500 + 1875

= $9375
