EXPRESSING A NUMBER AS THE SUM OF PRIME NUMBERS

Any number greater than 3 can always be expressed as the sum of two or more prime numbers.

Consider the number 12. To express 12 as the sum of prime numbers, take all prime numbers before 12.

They are

2, 3, 5, 7, 11

Let us take the smallest prime number 2.

12 - 2 = 10

To get the sum 12, we have to add 10 which is not prime.

Take the next prime number 3.

10 - 3 = 7

To get the sum 12, we need to add 7 which is also a prime.

Therefore, 12 as the sum of prime numbers :

= 2 + 3 + 7

Let's look at more examples to understand how express a number as the sum of prime numbers.
