Creepy Crayon STEM STEAM Challenge

Step 1: Draw a Creepy Crayon Using the Directed Drawing Template

First, have students draw a creepy crayon using the directed drawing template. If you have younger students you may want to do this step as a whole class. Be sure to model each step for students.

Step 2: Write a Story About Your Creepy Crayon

Next, have students write a fictional story about their crayon. Use the graphic organizers to help students plan their writing. Be sure that the story includes characters, setting, problem, important events, and a solution.

Step 3: Use the ChatterPix App to Take a Photo of Your Crayon

In order to have students animate their crayon, first have them take a picture of their drawing using the ChatterPix App. Then have them draw a line showing where the mouth of their crayon is located.

Step 4: Record Your Creepy Crayon Story

Next have students record their story or a summary of their story. Be aware that the ChatterPix App only allows for a 30 second recording.

Once students have their recording they can decorate their video by adding stickers and a frame. Students can also type text on their video. We recommend having students type their name on the video.
