The Little Red Fort Fractured Fable STEM Challenge

This STEM Challenge takes the classic tale of "The Little Red Hen" and adds a dash of engineering and problem-solving. So, put on your tool belts, grab your imagination, and let's embark on a fort-building adventure like no other!

In the Little Red Fort STEM Activity, students will enjoy the enchantment of fractured fables combined with the excitement of STEM education, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

  • The Little Red Fort by Brenda Maier (optional)

In the fable, The Little Red Fort, Ruby finds some old pieces of wood and is inspired to build something. Even though she doesn't know how to build a fort, she doesn't let anything stop her. Students are encouraged to build a fort for Ruby and her brothers.

After they have completed the challenge, students write an opinion about how they would react to the brothers if they were Ruby.

This engaging STEM Challenge uses a simple story to ignite creativity and critical thinking in students.
