How to Build a Haunted House STEM Challenge

Integrate STEM in your classroom this Halloween with a Haunted House STEM Challenge!

Can your students design and build their own haunted house?!

Challenge your students to design a haunted house using just paper and tape that includes 2D or 3D shapes.

Material List:

After reading How to Build a Haunted House by Frank Tupta challenge your students to design and build their own haunted houses. Students can build a 2D or 3D haunted house. Shape templates are included to help with the building process.

As students build circulate around the room and ask them to talk about the shapes that they included in their haunted house design. How many edges, vertices, and faces does each shape have?

After the STEM challenge is complete, have students write a spooky story about a haunted house using their 5 senses. Integrate narrative writing by having students write about what it would be like to walk into a haunted house. What would they see? What would they hear?
