  • pipe cleaners

  • scissors

  • index cards

  • clothespins

  • straws

  • cardboard

  • popsicle sticks

  • tower printable

  • a version of Rapunzel (optional)

In the story Rapunzel, the evil witch locks the princess in a tower. Students are challenged to design and build a device to help Rapunzel escape her tower.

After they have completed the challenge, there is a writing extension for students to write a continuation of the story of Rapunzel.

With a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of engineering, we can turn even the most whimsical fairy tales into engaging STEM adventures!
